There is a growing demand in the golf and sports turf industries to provide more summer heat resistant playing surfaces that are also capable of handling the increased demand for these surfaces.  There is also the burgeoning issue of water restrictions and how this relates to the maintenance of cool season grasses during increasingly hot summers.  In light of this Finelawn has developed Winsdsor Green Couch ready for vegetative transplanting.

The Process of
Sprig Planting

  • The planter is directly loaded with up to two full pallets of turf (120m2)

  • The turf is manually rolled out on a conveyor belt, from where it enters the machine and is converted into stolons which are then planted directly into the ground.

  • Typical conversion ratios are in the order of  1:5m2 – 1:10m2 (ie; 1m2 roll = 10m2 of planted stolons)

Our Grass of Choice

Winsdsor
Green Couch

Windsor green is a relatively fine textured cultivar that retains a high stolon density. This makes it highly sought after as a variety suitable for golf courses and sports fields. These characteristics also ensure that it is less susceptible than many cultivars to incursions of foreign grasses such as Annual Winter Grass (Poa annua). Typically it sports a blue green coloration.
